Hi Wendy, In terms of the total funding you will have received, a learner who has Completed & failed (sat all elements of the EPA) & a learner who has Completed & achieved you will receive the same amount of funding (100%) Depending on the contract/agreement you have, yes you should pay them the normal rate since the funding you get for an achievement/fail is the same (100%) If you have a scenario where the EPA Is 5 elements, they do 3/5 and do not sit the remaining 2/5 this would be a withdrawal & not a fail, then you would not receive this completion payment (20%)

Hi Peter, Will give this a stab since no other replies yet: When I previously worked with EBS (use ProSolution now so unfortunately cannot double check my logic) we had 2 different Maths Grade fields, one was MathGrade and one was MathQualGrade? Perhaps in the reference data the link is against the wrong field? If you go into your ILR manager for a student who is erroring do you see your grades pulling through at all? My guess would be the data is going into a redundant field? If you click the magnifying glass, you should see valid grades in that field (& if I remember correctly) if you hover over the field it tells you the XML Entity Name which should be MathGrade & EngGrade

In terms of guidance the section 9 - 2025 to 2026 academic year: 16 to 19 funding: maths and English condition of funding - GOV.UK is extremely vague but I think it's the best we have. I expect your question is more around admissions/entry requirements rather than funding but thought the below may be of use: In terms of the actual Qualification Numbers/Learning Aim Ref's this relates to, you could use the LARS database download in the "Validity" section look for EFACONFUNDENGLISH or EFACONFUNDMATHS Completely agree that it can be normal for students with IGCSE to continue to study onto GCSE to top-up their knowledge. In this scenario I would not be claiming the Block 2 Disadvantage Funding for the learners, since they have achieved CoF by Year 11 if appropriate for their age.

I'm glad you have already identified this Rachel because I had a slight panic this morning when noticing this on our new PDSAT run. Same as you though suddenly we have had 39 new learners appear but we have had visibility on them as a FRM37 with the rounding issue & thanks for the wording Ruth I'll copy that that lol

Hi Ilona, Yes you could do this, only learners who hold a Grade 3/D must continue with GCSE in order to meet CoF so if they have a Grade 2 or lower you have the flexibility to put the learner on what would support the learner. I would recommend reading the 13.3 - Demonstrating Progression part of 2025 to 2026 academic year: 16 to 19 funding: maths and English condition of funding - GOV.UK which confirms "Stepping stone qualifications are available for those students who have achieved a GCSE Grade 2 or below & are deemed not ready yet to continue towards a Level 2 qualification" which would be Level 2 FS or GCSE. Our providers take on this is "most" learners should be doing L2 FS/GCSE if they come in with a Grade 2, so we enrol them onto GCSE initially & we allow staff to transfer down (in the first 6 weeks) we don't go down the route of enrolling on L1 & progressing learners up but that's an internal take. Overall in your example, yes if the curriculum team believes after 2x attempts of GCSE Maths the learner can only get a Grade 2 & they think going down the route of a L1 FS is more appropriate you can do this. I would always trust the curriculums take on this because we're not teachers & they will know their learners/how to get the best out of them. To confirm if a learner achieved a GCSE Grade 3/D in your example they must now continue with the GCSE or else they will impact your CoF & you will get this line in your Maths and English report: Has Maths GCSE Grade D or Grade 3, Not studying GCSE Maths

Hi Eddie, Have you been paid your completion payment? What is the AchDate for the Apprenticeship Standard is there any overlap in dates based off the AchDate vs Start date on new apprenticeship? Just want to rule out you're not looking at "End Date" which would be the date the practical part ended & learner went into Gateway etc.

In the Adult skills fund: funding rules 2025 to 2026 - GOV.UK under Fees and Charging you have "You must not make compulsory charges relating to the direct costs of delivering a learning aim to learners we fully fund" I think I see where you'd want to go with it, hoping where learners have paid a commitment fee they will be more likely to turn up but where I don't believe you can make this a compulsory cost, a small minority would pay it & will be more hassle than it's worth in my opinion. What happens next? A learner achieves you'll need to obtain bank details & BACS transfer the deposit back? Then you'll have a different set of admin work you're trying to avoid just re-directing it to your Finance department.

Hiya, I would encourage watching this video -Training providers: Data locks (DLOCKS) - YouTube lots of examples of where they explain which DLOCKs may block earnings etc & may cover your scenario.

Hi Stephen, Any GCSE grade from 1-9 would be a positive achievement - regardless if they achieved a lower grade than what they achieved previously at school
