Seen this but would of liked a notification from the ESFA: Good Afternoon, As of this morning as I am sure you are aware there has been an update on the need for functional skills for apprenticeships. Please see below for the response we have from ESFA: Functional Skills The policy change will be effective from 11 February 2025 and will apply to new starts and existing learners currently on programme. The requirements for English and maths will be optional for apprentices who are aged 19+ at the start of their apprenticeship training. These apprentices must continue their English and maths training until agreed otherwise in a discussion between the apprentice and the employer. Employers must agree with apprentices to continue or discontinue studying towards English and Maths by 1st April 2025 and relay this decision to providers. Providers must ensure the outcome of the discussion between the employer and apprentice is recorded in the training plan. It’s at this point that apprentices who are aged 19+ at the start of their apprenticeship training are no longer subject to the English and maths exit requirement.

Hi Michelle Its through the large document exchange:- Providers that subcontract £100,000 or more of their delivery (or are anticipated to exceed this), across all ESFA funding streams, are required to submit an external auditor’s final report and assurance declaration (Annex B) through ESFA Document Exchange. Providers must do this by 31 July 2023. Hope that helps Jo

Just seen your response and wondered whether you could answer a question I have around the £500k cap for subcontracting for supporting providers. The funding rules changed on the 1 Aug 2021. The delivery/reporting year changed from April to March to funding year August to July. (P201 Delivery subcontractors who have successfully applied to the supporting application route of the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers must not receive more than £500,000, or £100,000 if the delivery subcontractor is identified as new, of apprenticeship funding for their delivery from 1 August to 31 July each year) My question is how would the ESFA expect the period April to July 2021 to be managed? Many thanks Jo
